Cam Everlands Primary school is is situated close to the centre of Cam, near the town of Dursley.
At Cam Everlands, the children of our school are at the heart of everything we do. We strive to be an inspiring, aspirational and exciting place to learn which is innovative and forward thinking, whilst retaining traditional school values. We work hard to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for our community of children, parents and staff, who work together effectively so that everyone can achieve.
We were first introduced to Aly Thomsen back in 2016 when an external agency arranged for her to support one of our children. Following the success of this Thera-Build® intervention we asked her to come back to work with other individuals, and Aly is now a regular weekly fixture in our school timetable, working with children from Rec-Y6. She is both professional and playful, so as a staff we can trust and rely on her, our children thoroughly enjoy their time in her care and her extensive range of resources mean that there are always wonderful LEGO® models being created.
We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises our strong commitment to improving our children's mental health and well-being and look forward to continuing as a partner school with Aly and her Thera-Build® approach. Sally Latuszka
Hartpury CofE Primary sits in the rural Gloucestershire countryside and is part of the Primary Quest Multi-Academy Trust.
Having worked with Aly for several years, I am constantly filled with admiration by the care, determination and commitment she pours into Thera-Build® and she and her team have helped so many of our children in the time that I have known her.
Her practitioners quickly become part of the school staff, showing genuine interest in the community, compassion for the children, and are able to build trust with staff and pupils remarkably quickly, generating a sense of belonging from the outset. The children look forward to their weekly slots and are always eager to join in with the sessions. The sense of pride they feel after a build is incredible and to see a child who has struggled for a long time finally beaming with a structure they have created is incredibly powerful.
These protected pockets of time provide the nurture and connection that our most vulnerable children so desperately need. Our children often reflect on how much they enjoy their sessions and how calming and supportive they find them. The hardest part is always saying goodbye, with many asking to take their practitioners with them to secondary school!
In a climate where budgets are tight and social complexities are high, Thera-Build® is an intervention that is affordable, sustainable, and deeply impactful.
I am forever grateful for the work Aly and her team do for our children.

North Road Community Primary School is a small, Victorian, semi-rural school, situated on the outskirts of Yate in South Gloucestershire.
At North Road Community Primary School, children’s physical and emotional well-being is at the centre of all that we do. Our ‘family feel’ ethos and values guide a curriculum designed to help every child enjoy learning and succeed in life. We strongly believe that children need to be in a healthy and positive mindset in order to access classroom learning and this is why we have a varied and engaging pastoral offer for pupils and their families alongside our curriculum offer.
We first connected with Aly Thomsen while exploring additional therapeutic interventions, and two members of staff went on to complete their Thera‑Build® Licensed Practitioner Training. The impact was immediate. Thera‑Build® quickly became an integral part of our provision, leading us to appoint a permanent practitioner and create a dedicated therapeutic space.
We continue to witness the fantastic impact that Thera-Build® is having on the lives of the children and their families. Parents share how they can see a positive difference in their child since accessing Thera-Build®. Teachers report the positive impact that Thera-Build® is having in supporting children to access classroom learning and in turn on academic progress.
We are absolutely delighted to receive the Thera-Build® Schools' Award, which recognises our strong commitment to improving our children's mental health and well-being. We are committed to ensuring that the Thera-Build® approach is at the very core of our pastoral and well-being curriculum for many years to come. Sarah Stillie
Longlevens Junior School is a well‑established junior school in the heart of Longlevens, a welcoming suburb on the north-eastern edge of Gloucester city centre.
We are a vibrant, child‑centred community where every day is shaped by our commitment to helping children thrive. Our enriching and ambitious curriculum, wide range of opportunities, and strong pastoral offer ensure every child feels safe, happy and able to succeed.
The introduction of Thera‑Build® to our pastoral offering has made a significant and sustained contribution to supporting pupils with SEMH and communication and interaction needs. The TLPs from Bricks2Learn bring a genuinely relational approach, building strong, trusting relationships and tailoring their support with sensitivity, insight and skill. They have integrated seamlessly into our setting, quickly becoming a valued part of the wider team, and are consistently approachable, flexible and collaborative.
Over the years, we have seen the impact of their work first‑hand. Children are more engaged, confident and able to regulate; they participate more readily in learning and genuinely look forward to their sessions. Families also report noticeable improvements at home, reflecting the depth and consistency of the support provided.
We greatly value our partnership with the Thera‑Build® team and the positive difference their provision continues to make. It is a relationship we hope to maintain for many years to come. Charlotte Holloway
St. Paul’s Primary School and Nursery serves a wonderfully diverse community in the heart of Gloucester. Our work is characterised by a deep commitment to inclusion and guided by our Christian values. We believe every child is unique, and we are dedicated to ensuring all pupils receive the highest‑quality education and support.
Thera‑Build® has become a valued part of this commitment. It offers an engaging, creative and emotionally safe space where pupils can learn, explore and develop key skills through a child‑centred approach, that is tailored to their individual interests. Within this nurturing environment, children build resilience, strengthen confidence and learn to manage challenges more effectively.
Practitioners take the time to truly understand each child, forming trusting relationships that help pupils recognise, express and regulate their emotions. Our children consistently look forward to their weekly Thera‑Build® sessions, and many have shared how the experience has helped them feel more capable, positive and emotionally secure.
Thera‑Build® has made a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of our pupils, and we are proud to have it as part of our provision.
